He Was Tired

He was tired of all the
pleasant trees and pleasantries;
something needed to burn.

He resented those long furious nights
when the moon wouldn’t turn,
when the ignorant continued to howl for blood.

“How full of hate you are,"
but none of them would listen.

They were too entrenched
in their system of belief to accept
that they might need love,
that they might need to love.

Hook the worm
and sink the ship;
he was tired.
