More Anomalies: A – Z : the Host of Heaven

The Lord Almighty is mustering  an army for war.” - Isaiah 13: 4

I saw the Lord sitting on his throne with all the multitudes of heaven standing around him on his right and on his left…” the Prophet Micaiah -  1 Kings 22: 19

From across the vast expanse of the e’er
expanding universe, the stellar realm,
suns, moons, and stars, from their courses above
assemble around the great royal throne.

Gathering here for their Lord’s dread command,
row upon row, and now rank upon rank,
prepared to follow Yahweh Sabaoth
into fierce conflict with an ancient foe.

Cosmic forces arranged in their strength
with the fi’ry chariots of heaven.
Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus, Dominus Deus
Sabaoth–Lord God of Angel Armies

  1. This is one of my most favorite descriptors of God: the LORD of Hosts; however, it tends to lose something in the English translation. One of the terms used in Hebrew is to call God: יְהוָ֣ה צְבָאֹ֑ות. This literally means, "Yahveh of Hosts." This is God's personal name. It would be like me calling you, "Jeff of Hosts." It doesn't roll off the tongue very well. This is, however, one of God's titles and names.

With me and my pacifist nature I have a hard time dealing with this; however, I also realize that God's concept of hosts is not the same as mine.
