More Anomalies A - Z: Jehudiel

In the synaxis of all the bodiless powers,
the angelic ranks assemble in the unseen realm:
Angels, Archangels, and Principalities,
Authorities, Powers, and Dominions,
Thrones, Cherubim, and Seraphim,
to offer up their solemn praise.

The one who is like God stands forth
calls them all to order; he says:
“Let us attend! Let us stand aright
and do not falter in our song!”

Jehudiel, sixth of the seven Archangels,
steps forward with a braided whip
of three chords in his left hand,
and in his right, a golden crown all ablaze.

He is the glorifier of God
who leads them in their prayer:

Glory to you, o God,
our God, glory to you.

Holy God,
Holy and strong,
Holy and immortal,
have mercy on us.

  1. I had a professor in college who maintained that singing was something peculiar to humans. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that angels sing.

    1. well sure... but since "morning stars" and "sons of God" are both sometimes read as references to angels i think Job 38: 7 would counter that professor's argument.
