Most Glorious Nostalgia

Ah!  give praise to most glorious nostalgia,
when the days were long and the nights were warm,
when union workers could be shot on strike,
and the niggers hung when they got too loud,

When capitalism still raced free,
unfettered by hand-wringing liberals,
and eugenics, yet hailed as true science,
pledged a better world for the better man.

Oh for the days when we could spite the Jews,
slight the wops and keep the women out of sight.

Let’s bring back old Sacco and Vanzetti
so we can electrocute them again.
Bring back Uncle Joe McCarthy’s Red Scare.
We lived in decency then; we had no shame.
