Between the burning, blinding sun
and the cold, changeable moon
I wander;
Between the mountains
the wilderness is wide.
Strike the rock
so that the people may drink;
Strike the rock
and be condemned.
The wilderness is wide
and you are unseen.
Note: The name of the mountain where the people of Israel received the Torah is given alternately as Mount Sinai or Mount Horeb. Sinai is derived from “moon” and Horeb from “sun”)
