Sorry D’Souza, That’s Not Evidence of God’s Blessing

Recently Dinesh D’Souza shared this question on the Twitter machine:

“If America is not a providential nation, then how has this young country become the #1 superpower in the world?”

The answer he wants to hear is: “God has blessed us.”

The answer is actually: the same way that Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome, etc… became superpowers in their day. By conquest and subjugation. Being a wealthy nation with a powerful military is not evidence of God’s providential blessing.

And, we should remember what happened to each of those superpowers.
