In the Garden Jesus Prayed - or not in the garden... d'uh!

Once more I have tried  my hand at a bit of hymnody - this time working with John 17: 20 - 26 as the text and the hymn tune  Aberystwyth   by Joseph Parry for the melody.  It's yours to use if you like it.

** EDIT **

It has been brought to my attention that I made a sloppy mistake.  The prayer Jesus made for us in chapter 17 did not take place "in the garden."  It's chapter 18:1 where Jesus heads out for Gethsemane.  When he had finished praying, Jesus left with his disciples and crossed the Kidron Valley. On the other side there was a garden, and he and his disciples went into it.

So I've had to tinker with the words - replacing "In the garden" with "In his last hours" (which requires a slight swallowing of a syllable...)

In His Last Hours Jesus Prayed

In his last hours Jesus prayed,
not for himself but for us,
that our love would be displayed
and our unity be blessed,
one with him who is the Son
and through him, the Father too;
in his glory we’re made one,
Christ, and Father, me and you.

In his last hours Jesus prayed
that we might see his glory,
his before the world was made
now displayed in history,
that the Father, and his name
might be known in all the world,
spread by us who hold this claim:
God, in Christ, has loved the world.
