Shiver Shudder Sing

We heard their shrieks in the night
as we huddled in our homes,
and shivered
because we knew what we’d been spared.

Standing on the shore of the sea
we watched the bloated bodies
of horse and rider
wash upon the sands, and shuddered.

Rejoice for freedom.  Sing.
Celebrate the end of captivity,
not the death of our enemy.
