(The last of my July Anomalies were slightly delayed while I was out of town and without connection to the internets. Here is the last of them...)
a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them… Jeremiah 5:6
Here stand snarling
the dog-star shepherds,
hyenas and fire dogs
slick with common blood spilt on common ground
between the tinting of the dew
and the arrival of doomsday’s eclipse,
persecuting the poor with wild heresies,
and tearing them to pieces.
the dog-star shepherds,
hyenas and fire dogs
slick with common blood spilt on common ground
between the tinting of the dew
and the arrival of doomsday’s eclipse,
persecuting the poor with wild heresies,
and tearing them to pieces.
They ravin like wolves,
devouring in the morning,
and at night dividing the spoils between them
What other species to strike such dread
and pierce the peace of planets?
and at night dividing the spoils between them
What other species to strike such dread
and pierce the peace of planets?
What does the wolf have
in common with the lamb
except for feeding,
and what does Zeeb eat except the lamb
that is led to the slaughter?
except for feeding,
and what does Zeeb eat except the lamb
that is led to the slaughter?
This is part of July Anomalies A-Z, a creative writing exercise and not
intended to be an altogether accurate picture of the creature described above.
