Sister Death Is at the Door

Brother, please, you should not go,
the day’s still bright,
and the children are still young.
Sister Death is at the door,
but let her wait;
let her wait another day.

Come back, embrace your wife.
Come back for your children too.
Come back to see the granddaughter
you love so well.
Sister Death is at the door,
but let her wait.

There is sun, and wind, and snow;
there is laughter, light, and love.
There is time for you and I
to converse once more -
Sister Death may knock upon the door
but let her wait, let her wait.
