There once was a man
from Ephraim
whose concubine ran away from him;
she fled to her father
who promptly returned her
to the Levite who took her again.
On their way home they stopped for the night
in Gibeah, as anyone might.
When the mob came to rape
the man made his escape
allowing her to suffer his plight.
she fled to her father
who promptly returned her
to the Levite who took her again.
On their way home they stopped for the night
in Gibeah, as anyone might.
When the mob came to rape
the man made his escape
allowing her to suffer his plight.
In the morning he said,
“We must fly,”
but the woman could make no reply.
So he carried her home
to divide up her bones
and her flesh into twelve parts, oh my!
but the woman could make no reply.
So he carried her home
to divide up her bones
and her flesh into twelve parts, oh my!
