I Would Beg Pardon, but from Whom? - New Music
I tangled the path and disrupted the plasma field line phenomenon. I fired the laser beam from orbit. I was undone by an erratic electron flow. I would beg pardon, but from whom?

Peace Be With You
Two years ago I wrote a short little, three verse hymn entitled "Peace Be With You" based on John 20: 19 - 22. This afternoon I recorded myself playing/singing it. It is what it is. And you're welcome to it, if you like it.
A stray bit of noise that I recorded during this project became a part of the finished product:

The Four Visions of Dr. Tarrec - New Music
It was in the 38th year of my life that I was given a series of four visions, strange and bewildering dreams that foretold in symbolic fashion the future history of our world. I recorded my impressions and memory of these visions but was told, at the time, to keep them sealed and hidden. But now, these many, many years later am permitted to disclose what was revealed to me.
The First Vision
An angel having six wings came to me in the night and stood by my bed. He said to me, “Doctor, it is given to you to see and to know of what must be. Behold; the end of this present age is not far off.” The angel stretched out his arm and pointed to the far wall of the room, and there upon the surface of the wall a saw a woman, dressed in silver pursued across the desert by a man (who was not a man) with no face. She was fleeing from his wrath and his fury toward a glowing city on the horizon. When this faceless man (who was not a man) realized that he could not catch her, he rose into the air and sprayed the sky with a sparkling poison.
The Second Vision
I saw a sorrowful woman of surpassing beauty weeping, for she was in great misery. Her tears formed a pool around her feet. But then she was transformed into a great horned owl. And when she expanded her wings to their full length, they blotted out the moon and the world was submerged into darkest night.
The Third Vision
The angel showed me a violent storm over the ocean. There was much lightning and loud wind. Suddenly a sea serpent broke through the surface of the waters, roaring louder than the winds of the storm. He stretched his neck up through the clouds and began to devour the stars.
The Fourth Vision
There was a well secured castle, with fortified towers and gates floating upon a bed of fog. And a guard and the gates called out to me, “None shall enter this city. No one, by any means shall pass through these gates.” Then the seven arc-angels of heaven came down and began to chant one of the celestial songs. The words were strange and unreportable. I watched in amazement as the castle began to disappear and the fog dissipated into the dawn.
And after the visions had been shown to me, I asked the angel, “What do these things mean?” But he did not reply. No answer was given.

our predictions are skewed.

Please, I'm Trying To Help You
It's just a bit of musical nonsense. It's a tad percussive, but not exactly danceable.

Subaquatic Particles in the Stream
An ambient texture song that can't quite decide if it's ominous or comforting. The title was drawn from my Nonsense Prayer. In addition to the
material I recorded, I also used a couple of sounds from the Freesound Project.

The Balthus Effect
The Balthus Fields, - strong pockets of nasty radiation - were an unexpected side effect of the Balthus Effect which left most of the major cities uninhabitable. The rest were destroyed by more conventional means. Humanity, what few of them remained, fled into wild places, and subterranean caverns. And in the many years of their absence decay overtook all their remaining works. Concrete crumbled. Buildings collapsed. Iron bridges rusted and fell with a crash into the rivers they once spanned.
It was the Balthus Effect that did it. We know that now. The scientists responsible for developing the weapon tried to warn them; they said that they needed more time for further testing. But the leaders wouldn’t listen. They rushed the Balthus gun into production because they thought it would save them. Instead it doomed us. But they were desperate – and ignorant. God forgive them.
I recorded this dystopian soundscape by creating a random tone generator played with played with some strange instruments. I recorded three different versions of this random noise and then layered them all together, 1) to the left side, 2) to the right side and 3) in the center.

Pat Robertson Says "Let's Go Surfin' in 2014"
Pat Robertson - never one to learn from his mistakes - has released his latest predictions for the upcoming year. In his crystal ball he's seen chaos (he always sees chaos), a win for the Republicans (now he's just being redundant), a credit crisis caused by China, and a surfin' president Obama.
Sounds like fun to me.
Pat Robertson Says "Let's Go Surfin' in 2014"
And let's not forget the time that God told Pat who was going to win the election, but Pat said that he probably shouldn't talk about it.
To create this little song I used a couple of sounds from the Freesound Project:

Theories of Imagination - New Album
I am quite excited to share with you this new collection of 24 songs - Theories of Imagination.
It began as a soundtrack for a documentary - but the project seems to have lost it's way. But I still have all this great music and it would seem a shame to waste it. So here it is. (If the film ever gets going again, the music can serve for the soundtrack as well, or we can make more...)
African percussion, Greek bouzoukis, strange synthesizers, flamenco guitars, classical melodies - this album combines a wide and eclectic range of source material into a unique musical experience.
$10 for 24 songs... that's not bad, right? And the money goes to support The Salvation Army of Newton, Iowa. Please share the link, too. That would be great. Thanks.
Recorded at home with Ableton Live 8, a guitar, a cornet, a trombone, a variety of percussion instruments, some other assorted junk, and a number of sound samples from the Freesound Project. A full list of the samples is included in the downloadable extras.

Into the Unknown - Download the EP
Yesterday I posted the short song Into the Unknown - a song I created in Ableton Live 8, with a unique instrument I put together from a couple of free sources. And now, my friends, you can download a 4 song EP- each played on this unique and somewhat bizarre instrument.
And I hope you will download these songs. (At a mere four dollars, it's not too expensive...) I hope that you will download the music, not just because I want you to enjoy the music I've created, but also because the money raised in this venture goes to support The Salvation Army in Newton, Iowa.
There are things we cannot know,
places we cannot go,
but still we persist;
into the unknown.

At the Year's End
At the year's end we think back, reflect. Some of us pray. Many of us resolve to do better, to be better. At the year's end...

Here Betwixt Ass and Oxen Mild - A French Noel
This was a new carol to me - despite the fact that it is a bit ancient. It's a 13th century French "Noel" (the information I have says that the tune is Gevaert) translated by Windred Douglas in 1940.
I recorded this in Ableton Live 8 - that's me on the cornet (still not a french horn.). I also used a drum beat from the Freesound Project.
You can download it here, if you like
1- Here betwixt ass and oxen mild,
Sleep, sleep, sleep my little child.
Angels from on high
hover in the sky
keeping watch above th'incarnate God of love.
2-Here in the crib, secure from harms,
Sleep, sleep, in your mother's arms.
Angels from on high
hover in the sky
keeping watch above th'incarnate God of love.
3-Here betwixt rose and lily white,
Sleep, sleep, sleep my son tonight.
Angels from on high
hover in the sky
keeping watch above th'incarnate God of love.
4-On this fair night of holy joy,
Sleep, sleep, sleep my little boy.
Angels from on high
hover in the sky
keeping watch above th'incarnate God of love.
