Pat Robertson Says "Let's Go Surfin' in 2014"

Pat Robertson - never one to learn from his mistakes - has released his latest predictions for the upcoming year. In his crystal ball he's seen chaos (he always sees chaos), a win for the Republicans (now he's just being redundant), a credit crisis caused by China, and a surfin' president Obama.

Sounds like fun to me.

Quiet Geology - a Thatjeffcarter Remix

That Icelandic musical pixie, Bjork, has partnered with Beatport.com  for a remix contest.  Artists are challenged to translate her song Mutual Core into something altogether new.

Here is my entry: Mutual Core (Quiet Geology Mix - by Thatjeffcarter)





Because the song's lyrics make numerous references to geological formations and processes I tried to give my remix the sound of deep caverns, slow moving glaciers, and violent geothermal hot-springs.

I shuffle around the tectonic plates in my chest.

The Atlantic ridge drifts

In and Out of Time - Ableton Beat the Clock Contest

What can you create in one day?  The rules of this contest limited participants to 24 hours from the time they download the samples to the time they upload their completed work.

Pro Sound Effects Logo Contest

Pro Sound Effects - a sound effects library company, is creating a new video logo for all of their promotional videos and tutorials.  They're holding a contest for the audio portion.  It's a six second video.

This is an entry in another remix contest. I enjoyed rearranging the musical parts and adding some new material to the song Fast by Lee Harris.  It's a fun little song.

Infection - Another Thatjeffcarter Was Here Remix

A couple of days ago I posted about the Remix contest for the song "Runaway" by R3SET and shared my entry.  But this isn't the only remix contest I've entered recently.

 Loopmasters is also hosting a remix contest through their site and they have provided an assortment of musical stems.  They invited musicians to mix these bits and pieces into a song of some sort and are offering some pretty nice prizes to the winners.

I worked on this one last month, when things were a lot less hectic, but the submission phase of the contest didn't begin until just the other day.

The submission phase ends at Midnight (GMT), December 24th and the winners will be announced online sometime after that.  The list of prizes is pretty long...but so is the list of entries.  And there's still plenty of time for more.... I'm hopeful, but not really expecting to win.

I just like making the music.
